well at frist this sounds a cool cheap way of finding hosting for yourself or your friends but trust me it not worth it.... first off you get to waste much more time setting it up and securing it and secondly it all depends on your ISP upstream so you will find yourself all-soon a "slow server"

There is no substitute for the facilities which a data center can offer. While it is possible to run your own server at home, the cost of maintenance may prove to be not economical at all.

The expenses related to the basic hardware, speed of internet connection etc. that are necessary to run a dedicated server and other costs associated with it are too high as compared to that of having a shared host.

Setting up your own dedicated server at home for webhosting is a good training ground because you can learn better the techical aspect having a direct access to your own physical hardware. For commercial purposes, home based webhosting is unreliable.

I am in the moment of building a server lol and have connections and sorted out a seprate bill for it which is 40 % cheaper because its just for the server as for the server it's a beast
