Promoting your blog for free

Hello,

One good free way to promote your blog is to participate in similar blogs and forums that have the same topic as your blog and add a link to your blog in your sig (make sure you are allowed to do so first). It'll help you get some targeted traffic and also some incoming links to your blog which should improve it's search engine rank.

A great way to get people to know about your blog is to comment on other blogs and post in forums.

Also, using trackbacks as a way to point to other people's content works well. If you can get yourself into a dialog with another blogger that can drive their traffic to you.

Generally, though, create great content and people will find you.

Remember to create prominent links on your blog to your RSS feed, and a bookmarking tool.

You can also ass social bookmarking links to your posts, to encourage people to digg/stumbleupon etc your page.

Try using digg, they give you good exposure for your blog posts.. as well as a little boost on PR.

Thats definately a great idea! I hadnt even thought about doing that until someone wrote a blog comment on my beauty blog with a link to a hair blog

Leaving comments at different blogs always help but most blogs use nofollow tag though. However it can still be good because you'll get a little traffic and free promotion.

Another resonable way to promote your blog, and get back links, is to ping all of the avaliable services. When you ping a service, you tell them that you've just made a post, and in return they generally put an excerpt of your post on their site, with a link to your blog.

The idea sounds good, I already tried it before, some time yields good results, some times not

Moreover once I got the other blogger pissed when I added my only links, in my sig and posts, he really turned mad about it
