How Google calculates a page's ranking

I mostly agree with you. but google really never reveals its formula. But more or less same as what you said. PR depends on back links, and also the on reputation factor and traffic. if PR depends only on back links, PR should be same on all the google servers, but PR difers from one google server to other, its because the amount of traffic passed through that particular server also influences PR.

Thats something i hadn't thought about. Maybe they take the average of all data center values.

No one really knows how Google calculates the pagerank. There has been studies undertaken, but it's more of a guessing game really since Google does change how they compute it from time to time.
