Server Uptime 99.9?

Hello Evryone.

Some WebHostingCompany claim the 99.9 uptime. How it is possible?
What did you think? What is your webhosting uptime?

I think 99.9% uptime is very possible. Free hosted blog sites like blogger almost always never has a downtime, even if they did it does not last more than an hour.

My company maintains 99.9% uptime for all our customers. That's 4 minutes of downtime each month. It's maintained by redundant line backups, power backup, security, etc.

lolzz.It is 98.87% I know why is it not 99%
The reason was this:;That i hav changed my DNS from youngspiders to shoutserv the propagation setup take much time to resolve the site..But when tracker was unable to open my website during that duration it's system automatically made my site's Uptime Down and down..

Well 70% of the hosting companies have ~ 99% uptime. My host uptime is ~ 98%. Why as they upgraded the server RAM, processor etc. Most of the servers are located at good DC (data centers).

For eg. I buy a server from theplanet.com and some other people too. Now their DC are at Texas and they have a good DC so most of the people who have purchased server from them or hosting business will have a good uptime unless they did somethign wrong themselves.

Yeah 99% isn't much of a stretch... Down for a minute a day would still be 99%

99.9% isn't difficult to achieve because hardware and software is much more reliable nowadays. Of course maintenance is never included in this figure and so your site may be down much more overall.

Well I think a good hosting company should have more than 95% uptime well there might be ups and down here and there due to various reasons but still if its minutes long down times then im ok [ if its not happen too often ] more you pay better you get.
