Default php & mysql tutorials

Hi, I want to learn php and mysql a lot. I have tried learning them through different websites but I always end up quitting too early and I have never learned anything. I find it pretty boring to read in websites. So are there sites which provide downloadable tutorials or even video tutorials to learn these scripts?

I hope there will be video guides on how to do that aside from e-books. Video presentations is the best way to learn.

I agree with bizwiz, that video presentations is the best way to learn. But where find video presentations ?

A programming language is difficult to learn if you haven't programmed before. Tutorials can teach you snippets and such, but the most important thing is structure and thinking in the right frame of mind. Knowing why things go where they go is as important, if not more so than the commands to get there. Also being able to break down a task into workable sections helps as well. I would suggest anyone starting out take a course online or at a school on programming. They generally teach you more about structure than they do about commands and this is invaluable in your quest to learn any language after that. Then it's really just a matter of plugging in that language's version of the commands where they go (and dealing with a bit of the differences).

Just 2c from a 25 year programmer, now retired mostly...

Http://Killerphp.com - great tutorial website for new PHP users.
http://www.devshed.com/c/a/MySQL/Be...MySQL-Tutorial/ - not the best one but its good, it will help you to install and set all the options on MySQL.
Good luck !
