There are a lot of free hosting services that are ad free. Some don't require you to do anything in return. There are some websites that compare these free hosting services. You may want to go to one of these sites and compare them. I am using 00webhost.com for two of my websites.

100mb These two i've tried and satisfied, but as free is not always free, i found some restrictions using scripts, hence shifted to own server now. But its always good for someone who are new to hosting or web business. |

I would stay away from post-for-hosting type of deals.. most of them are fly-by-night and disappear really quick. I am a little biased, but I would recommend freehostforum.com for free hosting, but if not, I would still stay away for post-for-host deals.
