From what I've seen, PR is one of the most important considerations when buying an existing domain. Since Google takes so long to update, even the best SEO work can't get a new site a high rank quickly. An established site usually comes with a decent PR. Just check the prices at some of the popular domain forums to see how much PR is valued.Comment

Usually PR is a good indicator of how well its ranked in search engines, the higher the pr the higher the rankings.Comment

Page ranking is somewhat important to me but is not the be all and end all of domain purchasing.
