  • How do you select your domain name provider?

How do you go about deciding who you will purchase your domain name from? I like to look for someone who has a positive reputation and has been in the business for awhile. Once I find a few of those companies, I try to find the best price and see who may be offering any specials and promotions.

My main gripes are obviously price than would come extra features. My #1 registrar right now is NameCheap because not only do they offer great prices but include a free Whois Privacy Guard with each .com/.net/.org purchase.

You should see about there history, Such as you can rely on godady and other big businesses because they have a good record. Smaller businesses i tend not to trust and especially just one person saying buy your domain through me. I also choose a registar by price. If its too low it is abit suspicious. As some would say too good to be true. But i would go for a fairly cheap one. Other than that there isnt much else to decide.

I usually use enom (my 6.95 reseller account) or domainsite (6.99) if its a domain I plan to develop and sell, just because its easy to push to other accounts

Ahh.. I edit my statement now, I won't ever use registerfly in future. They have very unprofessional approach to deal with customers. I nearly lost a good amount of money becoz of them. Will never use them from now on....

i also look features like name server transfer and if they provide add on domains because if you are owner of many domains it becomes really hassle to maintain them all.
