  • Layout Size?

What size of layouts do you usually make? I usually make mine fit for 800x600, even though a lot of people now have bigger resolutions, I still would like my websites to be viewed easily by those with smaller resolutions. How about you?

I always design for 800x600, but I think very soon in the future, we'll be seeing 1024x768 as the default with all the new flatscreen monitors that everyone will be using and such.

                      Re: Layout Size?

I usually start with the header first and that is usually 800 * 150, after that i go on to make the rest of the page, it becomes quite heavy in the end!

Ya I usually start with my header as well. My headers are usually around 800 x 100-150 and then I try to cut down the sizes for other parts to make it look good.

My Photoshop preset's set to 700*750 but I usually end up xpanding them when I'm coding them.

                            Re: Layout Size?

I use 790 as width and 1000 too, depending on the site. I try to use fluid designs, but fail miserably most of the time since the layouts are weird and I cannot design them anyway than fixed.

For a normal website (simple one) I use 760px (the ideal for all resolutions), but when it comes to larger websites I will suppose that the viewers have at least 1024x resolution and use around 850~925px (in width of course)
