    Something to watch out for at Godaddy. I recently had confirmed that all my domains where NOT on auto renewal. Sometimes when I buy a domain and its pushed into my account it was set to auto renewal by the previous owner.
    Anyways last week I made sure that all my domains where set to manual renewal.

    I returned from being out most of the day to find that one domain had autorenewed.

    I called support and spent about 30 minutes sorting it out. Went to second level of support. He confirmed that I had reset all my domains earlier that day BUT somehow that one was missed. Total BS I say.

    So after about 30 minutes wasted I received a 3 refund.

    Something to watch out for since the domains that auto renew NEVER have the discounts applied to them.

    After reading some bad stuff about Godaddy domain policies online I completely stay away from them. I don't like their business practice, they try to sell you more (crap) stuff than you need. Nodaddy.com tells the stories of horror of Godaddy.

      Something to watch out for since the domains that auto renew NEVER have the discounts applied to them. That's a very good point namebutler, i think everyone should know about this one. Thanks.

          i've never had a problem with my domains at godaddy, but I've only had a few domains with them. My register of choice is namecheap.

              I also have that some issue. I am sure my auto renewal was also unchecked yet my credit card was charged. I immediately canceled my card and requested a new one.

                Auto renewal is not the best way to do it if you have lot of domains at Godaddy. Coz there won't be any discounts. I don't know how this Auto renewal happened if you had set it to manual.

                  IMO we should make separate sections based on the importance of domains. This way we can keep somewhat control on autorenewals

                    if we use paypal, we can avoid the problem right because they only way they can charge us ( autorenewal) if we use credit card.... sorry kindda new with this stuff, i only got one domain with nodaddy ... but i prefer name.com because it's control panel is simple rather than nodaddy cp too many graphic design headache to people with slow connection

                      Yes, I agree with webcore. Not only control panel but the registration process if also very messy at godaddy

                        Thanks for the tip I'll definitely check on my domains and will manually renew them to avail the possible discounts by use of coupons. Their interface is not very user friendly though and finding something takes hell lot of time sometimes.

                          I've had the same problem as you. I've disconnected GoDaddy from my PayPal account, after having received more than a $50 bill in a week - all from auto-renewals, which had been set to manual-renew.

                          I am located in New Zealand, so it would not be worth the phone bill to call up and complain. I hate big companies.

                            Same thing happened to me also. i called them and got my refund back after they confirmed it.
