Did you start out free?

How many people started out with free web hosting? Has anyone done this in the beginning stages of an online business? I don't think it is such a good idea but perhaps someone has had success.

i started of free and after a year i started an hosting company for a while then i shut it down and now working with my friend's hosting company

i started out free and still am my hosts provides everything i need at the moment

Well i started out with free also, but then i moved on up slowly and began to realize what great things you can do with the internet, i am in the early stages of creating my own business because i did research and took a couple of business classes at my school, my first free host was geocities, back then i though i was the "man" but then i saw other peoples sites and how nice they are desgined and i began to buy some domains and get some hosting and try this thing out, and so far i have geocities to thank for my somewhat sucess now

I started out on pauid hosting, but now i have started a new website on a free server, and hoppefully when it starts gaining some traffic i will move to a paid server!

I started as free hosting and I still have a few low traffic sites hosted on a free hosting provider. I even have a PR4 site hosted for free...

I got started with free webhosting services such as geocities, angelfire, tripod and fateback.
After that, I tried some paid hosting services, but finally quit from this.
A couple of years ago was difficult to find good free webhosts, now many people is offering good features, even better than paid hosting services.

I had started out with free webhosting. My first free webhost was Future City and it was what started to interest me into making websites, then I found ways to make money and started up better websites with TLD instead of those cruddy subdomains.

I started of free till i got some money and joined in
with some other company which had really good hosting.

well im planning to start off free cause im not prepared to risk
and after about 1 yr or so im gonna use a paid domain
and i advise everybody to satrt off free and not risk losing thei money!!
