Hi friends,
The first model of keyword advertising originated in the campaigns of Goto.com, created by Bill Gross. The company soon changed its name to Overture Services, and sued Google over alleged violation of their copyright patents for pay-per-click and bidding. Later on, Overture Services was bought by Yahoo, and renamed as Yahoo Search Marketing. The case was later settled out of court, as Google agreed to issue shares of their common stock to Yahoo and in return took a part of the perpetual license. I think this was a fair exchange, considering both of them got the best. What do you folks think?
Thanks a lot
