With regards to the usage of keyword specific domain names, I wish to know more. For any website, are they a good influence or a bad influence? The thought of getting around 20 domain names registered has come to one of my clients. They wish to get ranked high in leading search engines for all these main keyword variations. Their intention is to forward all the domains to just one site is my main concern here. To classify the domains better, they also wish to have domain name specific content. To the website, would these activities have a detrimental effect?

having a kw on your domain isnt necessary but if you do so the better you'll get a chance of getting search for that specific kw..but all of it would depend on how you use it to your advantage :)

Sure, your site/page will rank better for a keyword if it is in your domain name, but it's not essential. I don't have a keyword I'm targeting in my domain name. It depends on what you intend to do with your site. Branding can be very effective if you choose to create an authority site rather than a small niche site

Some people these days say that having the keyword in the domain name is not important for Google like it used to be. I would agree that it is less important, but it still gives a very large advantage in niche site marketing from what I've seen and experienced. If you are building an authority site it's no big deal, but for a niche site I would go for a keyword domain.
