Margin and Padding

Hello friends, In the web design what is the difference between margin and padding ?

Margins, padding and borders are all part of what’s known as box model. The Box Model works like this in the middle you have the content area surrounding that you have the padding, surrounding that you have the border and surrounding that you have the margin.

we don't use all of them.but it can be helpful to remember that model box can be apply on every element of page and that's a powerful thing.

the padding of an element is the horizontal and vertical space that’s set around the content area of the targeted element. So padding is on the inside of a box, not the outside.

Margin is adjust the whole movement of the div. And padding is the movement of the text or image in a div.

margin is the space from screen and padding is the space between text and the bondary of page.

Margin is applied to the outside of you element hence effecting how far your element is away from other elements.

Padding is applied to the inside of your element hence effecting how far your element's content is away from the border.
Also, using margin will not affect your element's dimensions whereas padding will make your elements dimensions (set height + padding) so for example if you have a 100x100px div with a 5 px padding, your div will actually be 105x105px

Padding : Padding can also be understood as "filling". This makes sense as padding does not affect the distance of the element to other elements but only defines the inner distance between the border and the content of the element
Margin : An element has four sides: right, left, top and bottom. The margin is the distance from each side to the neighboring element (or the borders of the document).

That both is used for styling the document. Padding used to give space between the text and margin is used to give space between the margin and the content
