  • The .info Extension

As a mildly competent domainer I see no true value in the .info extension. While I love seeing them sell I never see them put to much good use. I don't see many end users loving the extension and on the namepros forum as of late, I've seen several HUGE bulk sales of many solid .info names.

I guess what I'm wondering is what others think of the extensions. It seems to be an extension not quite as bad as .name but seemly useless to the end user. Do you think so or what are your thoughts?

I think this .info TLD better for information sites which use Ads and PPC for their revenue source. Mainly because you don't see any difference between .com and .info when it comes to SEO.

I agree with puffin. If the users are going to come from search engines then .info will be equally good compared with .com. For typein traffic .com is going to stay here for a long time.

puffin is absolutely right. Info TLD is great for information website and if you receive SE traffic, then TLD doesn't matter much. It's great if you are after PPC revenue.

          Re: The .info Extension

.info is the best extension for all websites however, it was killed by domain registrars. Because .info is the most related domain extension on the web as we are looking at information and data etc however with Godaddy etc offering at $1.99 or less at certain times (without the use of a coupon) the .info extension got killed and thats why there is no real value in it unless you have city.info, lll.info etc.

            Re: The .info Extension

It seems to me that a LOT of people are buying the cheap info domains and using them to redirect to spammy websites. If the info domain gets busted, they don't care, what's 99 cents compared to all those spams they send out.
