Re:
If you use the popular web design program, Microsoft Front Page, having a Windows Hosting platform will make your life a lot easier. You won’t have to worry about making sure your server supports extensions, as you would with a Unix platform.

Linux is to my mind more stable, but windows technologies allow using ASP.NET in design and MSSQL for database.
To advise quality solutions I may recommend using such a great tested companies as serverpoint.com and aspnix.com, whcih I find the best examples of windows hosting providers

Windows hosting is based on the Windows operating system. It is known for support of various programming frameworks, including ASP.net and ColdFusion. Windows hosting can also support SQL server, which can be used to build a site around an online searchable database. Windows based hosting or servers are ideal for those who need easy compatibility of Microsoft based technologies.

There are many application which run only on Windows. Like if you have a website built in asp, asp.net or MS-SQL or you are willing to use any Microsoft application like ColdFusion then Windows OS is the only option for it because its the only OS which supports all these Microsoft based applications.Webhosting.uk.com :: Cheap Reseller Hosting | Cloud Servers | Fully Managed Dedicated Server
