  • New domains or the older ones

    Hi,

Are you always searching for the new unregistered domain names and if you find a great name, just register it, or you think it is better searching through the domain auction sites and purchasing the older domains that were registered a couple of years before?

    Thanks.

Well basically the way I see it is depending on the website I plan to create. If the website is for short term use, then take the cheapest available domain. On the other hand, if I'm looking at a long term project with high investments then would go with an already registered domain (in case it's not newly available).

Depends on what sort of a domainer you are.
If you do premium domains, then you can't register them as majority of them have already been registered.

If you do domaining for fun only, then you can either register a new domain OR search the auction sites.

I simply sit on Godaddy, sometimes for hours, and simply think of new and better names that I can register and use to develop.

Well it depends if the domain name fits the site you are going to create. For me personally I'd like a new name because the old one might have some penalty in Goggle or some other major SE's.
