  • Bandwidth loss?

We used to use a dedicated server company and before we even put the first web piece up, it was wracking up bandwidth. The logs showed nothing and yet it was going up. Has anyone else had this? Know the reason? We dropped them, but I've always been curious about why it was doing that?

I have never had that issue with my hosting providers, and yes it does sound odd. Was there any activity to reflect bandwidth usage? Perhaps there was lag time?

Either way, it sounds like going with someone else was a smart move.

I think you can monitor all your bandwidth usage with Cpanel. Didn't you try to find out where things had gone wrong ?

It didn't have cPanel. It was a dedicated server. Their site had a login where you could check bandwidth. When I asked about it, they weren't sure. Now that I think about it, I wonder if it was residue from the previous owner of the IP address. Could have still been in people's caches.

Do you know if people would be pinging your site for any reason? I know I have a domain that gets about 30k visitors simply off of websites pinging it.

If any one don't have to face this situation then go through review section of hosting provider were you have to use their server
