Run Antivirus Scan. Connect the hard drive to a Windows PC and use a reliable antivirus/malware tool to scan the drive or the system. ...

Mainly this error occurs when hard disk is completely dead or with connection of wiring from motherboard to hard disk drive.

There is a myriad of reasons that can lead to a hard disk failure. Hence, there is a need to recognise the symptoms early and take preventive action.

It might be the HDD or it might be the RAID or ATA/SATA cable or it could just be a software fault. Theres no way to tell unless your test all those things one by one.

    Hard disk failure?

    Hello,

I've inherited an older windows 2000 server. It acts as a co-location box. Recently, I've been unable to access it until it is rebooted. Today, I checked out the event logs and saw it filled with error messages. Some of them said: "The device, \Device\Scsi\Ultra1, did not respond within the timeout period." and others said: "dmio: Disk Harddisk5 block 562598323 (mountpoint M: Uncorrectable write error" Many of these two occured in the last two days.

Another message I received a little while ago said:
"The device, \Device\Scsi\Pnp6801, did not respond within the timeout period."

Can anyone tell me what it looks like the problem is, or could be? I'm thinking that a hard drive has gone bad (or is going bad). Thanks
