  • ASP or PHP

I was wondering where to start with? what is the future of web? asp or php?
I would appreciate if someone can give a To-The-Point comparison between the two..

I'd prefer PHP. There is really no limit on it. You could create anything. It's the next level of coding. I'd been using it for 4 years so far and I'm satisfied with it.

Can you point out to some good tutorial which is not too lengthy and complicated and can get your ball rolling..
And I would like to hear something from ASP coders as well..

I have used both asp.net as well as PHP. The best part of PHP is that its easier to learn PHP as compared to ASP.NET. But I'll prefer ASP.NET as there are many inbuilt frameworks and tools to easily create complex website. A website that can be made in 3-4 days on PHP takes 1 day using ASP.NET. I've been using Visual studio 2008 these days and tring to get well versed with AJAX. The new .net framework 3.5 has ajax functions in built and the improved intellisense of Visual studio 2008 will enable you to develop your website very easily.

Both of them are having their own advantages but as asp.net provides lots of in built things most of the people prefer asp.net but I use php most of the time. But I always stick to the clients requirements.

As far as I know, php is easier to learn, and also it's widely used all over the net.
About tutorials, take a look here:

As per my experience you can go through asp. In asp you can get server side scripting tool so you can easily build your application in server. In asp you can use Sql server so easily bind database with designing portion. So asp is better than php.
