Hi,
Flash design is not going to fade out of web design industry anytime soon. There are new technologies that have appeared on the scene but they will need several years to match Flash in terms of market share. Flash usage has its benefits as well as limitations from the users point of view. There is no denying the fact that Flash makes a website dynamic and interactive. It also allows inclusion of media elements like video in a website. In fact Flash is known for its excellent video compression codec. The main complaint against Flash is that it is not much SEO friendly. In recent times, things have turned in its favor to an extent with Adobe working with Google to resolve this issue. However, the Apple product users still have trouble viewing Flash based sites as the company does not support Flash till now. The mobile web browsers often offer partial Flash support while there are some models that do not support it at all.
Like everything else in technology Flash design is also undergoing changes over the years. The latest updates and releases by Adobe Flash developers team have played a role in Flash design trend changes.
The Flash Player 10.1 that comes with NVIDIA Support has inspired the Flash design professionals to incorporate complex and visually appealing animations in Flash based websites. This feature has been included keeping in mind the need of the Netbook users who faced problem in Flash content playback in their devices. However, the mobile devices and Netbooks with Nvidia graphics technology will benefit from this feature. This is particularly helpful for stutter free playback of Flash videos.
A lot of Mobile phone users access the web using these phones. The Adobe Flash development team decided to utilize the multi touch feature of the high end touch screen phones. The new Multi Touch feature in Flash 10.1 is meant for these users. Another big improvement for the mobile web users is that they will get immersive flash usage experience in browsing with their phones. So far the smart phones had to rely on Flash Lite in most cases for displaying Flash websites. Now these devices can take advantage of the full fledged Flash player.
Now that Flash player offers improved hardware support the Flash design companies can create compelling and resourceful designs in Flash based websites without worrying about site performance. The Flash Player can utilize the GPU in the PC and does not tax the processor. It is now possible for the Flash design companies to include high resolution 1080p video optimized with the spanking new Stage Video hardware acceleration. This is easy for the Windows users but the Mac owners need to have OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard installed in their systems. However, some video sites using Flash technology will need time to catch up for the implementation of the new features.
The Flash API is versatile and the possibilities for a designer using this animation app are literally endless. The new features are great for media integration and playback in Flash sites. However, Flash architecture is still not much friendly to the search engine bots. Adobe needs to work on this for the longevity of Flash web design.
