Re: Adding a forum to site

You might want to use phpbb as a forum. It's easy to install, admin, moderate and has tons of mods that you could install. Check out their website @ http://www.phpbb.com/ they have everything you need there. Good luck on your venture

Does it support asp, i don't think so. The name itself says 'php'. Is there any good bulletin board for asp or asp.net. Also the main problem is of moderating the forum.

It looks quite scary to keep watching and editing so many posts. Also i want to know how to decide upon subforums.

Re: Adding a forum to site

I don't think phpbb does support asp. I'm not sure of one that does but I'll keep my eyes open for you. As for deciding on sub forums find a site similar to the one you want to operate and model it after that, take care not to copy their layout though just use that as a guide, break out a piece of paper and try to figure outwhat the end user will want to talk about. That should help you get the structure. Moderating a forum can be a bear at first but after awhile you can ask someone in a particular forum to moderate that section for you, many will love the idea as it boosts their status as a member. I hope this helps.

Well if you have Fantastico (open www.yoursitename.com/cpanel) and then click on Fantastico , there you will find some forums to install !

Re: Adding a forum to site

Fantastico is probably the easiest route to take.

I think to install phpBB it's 3 simple steps and you're done.

It doesn't get much easier than that

If I was you, i'd never use phpbb. It has the worst security. You can be hacked in seconds.. Go with Ipb or Vbulletin

Re: Adding a forum to site

vBulletin is best but it is expensive too. PhpBB is free. I'm sure you can get the security holes fixed very cheap by hiring someone & save some budget.
