Whatsapp is a free messaging service used to text message and share videos through mobile phones. Facebook bought Whatsapp for its growing popularity and increasing registration to make it more powerful.

Some Reason WHY facebook bought whatsup are as follows:

    · WhatsApp has both offensive and defensive value to Facebook.
    · WhatsApp's growth and usage is absolutely mind-boggling.
    · WhatsApp already has a powerful revenue model, and other successful messaging apps are showing the potential for it to add many more.
    · WhatsApp has very low costs, so it should eventually be wildly profitable
    · The names of all the smart people who pronounced Facebook itself a "fad" or "worthless" and dissed every new investment in the company as "moronic" could fill a book.

Facebook not only knows who in the world are acquainted, but also who out of those people actually communicate to one another. They can delve deeper than just facebook friends, into actual real life "let's go to the pub" friends.

WhatsApp handles 27 billion messages a day, and has over 450 million active users a month. Meanwhile, Facebook has 1.2 billion users. Therefore, this application is a significant threat to Facebook, entice their users into the messaging segment that Facebook has not yet stood.

Face book bought whatsApp because before we use send normal message by phone it would cost us now with the help of whatsapp we can send many messages and no charge except data. And also we can share photos and videos.

No one knows. There are some financial scenarios in which WhatsApp could end up being "worth" (in a limited financial sense) a lot more than $19 billion. There are other scenarios in which it could end up being worth a lot less. The only answerable question right now is whether WhatsApp was worth $19 billion to Facebook.
