Pogo-Sticking is what happens when a user performs a search query, finds a site and clicks on it, then realizes it’s not what they want so they click back to the search results. This can happen when you focus your efforts on keywords and keyword phrases that are too broad. It’s not really the same thing as bounce rate. Pogo-Sticking specifically relates to a search result to a page and back to to the search result where bounce rates show the entrance...

Generally many people tend to get confused between Bounce rate and Pogo sticking. But that's not true.

Bounce Rate and Pogo Sticking are related to each other but they are two different entities.

Pogo Sticking occurs when a user performs a search for a particular query, clicks on the search result and immediately clicks the back button and clicks on the some other search result. This occurs as a result of dissatisfaction of the reader, if the reader or user is not satisfied with the website then he might go back immediately to some other search result. This is called as Pogo-sticking

Basically, Pogo sticking occurs when a user a search a keyword, clicks on a result, very quickly clicks back to the search result page, and clicks on a different result. This type of behavior is a direct result of immediate dissatisfaction in the search result, and—unlike bounce rate—pogo sticking is always a bad thing.

Pogo-sticking refers only to the latter cause of high bounce rates. Depending on the nature of your website, wikis for example, a high bounce rate may be a sign of success but pogo-sticking is never a good thing.

Pogo-sticking is defined as going back and forth from a search engine results page (SERP) to an individual search result destination site. In other words, pogo-stickingis when the searcher clicks on a link on a SERP, sees that it's not what she is looking for, and immediately bounces off by hitting the back button.

While pogo-sticking may sound like fun, nobody enjoys clicking three different search results before finding what they were looking for. This type of pogo-sticking occurs when a website ranks highly but fails to satisfy the needs of people using that search term. If this becomes a common occurrence on your landing pages, Google and other search engines will come to the conclusion that your page is ranking for the term erroneously and your rankings will drop. From a search algorithm’s point of view, you have no right to that spot in the rankings if people are rarely satisfied by what they find on your webpage.
