    A wildcard DNS record is a record in a DNS zone that will match requests for non-existent domain names. A wildcard DNS record is specified by using a "*" as the leftmost label (part) of a domain name

    A wildcard is represented by sign Asterisk (*). *.example.com is used to represent all sub-domains of example.com: mail.example dot com, user.example dot com, news.example dot com, shop.example dot com etc.

    Wildcard are design to protect every single sub domain on your site as long as they share the same domain name and exist on the same physical server.
