What is link dumping... I think I found it

I've been on a marathon signing up for forums to post to (both to learn stuff I didn't know, share what I do know and get my link spidered)

Almost all of the forums are running the same BBS script, have similar "don't do X or we will kick you out"

Some that are not monitored closely (moderated is the proper term I believe) those are very, VERY quickly overrun with link spam
        what is link spam?

people who are attempting to get an inbound link by any means necessary

Often, not always, but often those link spammers (if you want to call them that, it is in the eye of the beholder) are promoting sleazy stuff like online casinos (again in the eye of the beholder, I don't gamble so it's foreign to me, hence sleazy) or products

Those 'link spammers' are: intrusive, obnoxious, could care less about this community or any other, in reality all they came here for is to "rifle through our pockets, see if we have any lunch money and take it from us"

I believe link dumping is a synonym for link spammers

I'm of two minds on this... I am a marketer and at least part of why I bother to participate is to get my link spidered... but I also contribute to a community. I share what I do know and listen closely to what I want to learn

there are some who think what I do is link spamming also

        I don't

Link Dumping is a Black Hat Optimization technique

Link Dumping is the Black Hat art of dropping a link to your sites everywhere that is humanly possible for little to no money. Common link dumps include gustbooks, comment sections, and link exchanges.

I beg to differ with your characterization of link dumping as black hat.
IF (and this is a big if) the link being "dumped" or otherwise distributed is appropriate to the venue (be it forum, guest book, blog comment, what have you) then it's perfectly acceptable.

If on the other hand the link being "dumped" (to use your negative connotation) is not relevant, does little to contribute to the ongoing discussion...

what is black hat about that?

The areas where the relevance of the link is questionable... then it's just plain irritating... there are obvious attempts at just sticking a url where ever it will fit, that's not black hat, it's not cheating... it IS obnoxious

and in my mind the blatant disregard for the integrity of an ongoing discussion is grounds for kicking someone off a forum, or deleting a comment.

but to just summarily execute a link because it's "commercial"... that's just plain marxist.

People have to have jobs... and if someone, somewhere isn't selling products or services NO ONE gets to have a job

Is it a kind of specific term? How important to know about that for the good SEO?

Link dumping is a black hat seo technique in which a number of links are dumped in one place caring little for relevancy of the post.

Basically, its black hat seo technique. It is more or less spamming. Commenting in guestbooks, blogs etc is considered as link dumping. It can be through automated software or done manually.

                          Link Dumping
It's happen whene you go around, spamming up the internet by continuously dropping your link.
You go and post comments in Blogs, Forums Articals etc. and adding a link in that and after that adding a lots of directories.
The result is that you get a high uprise in inbound links from low quality and non-relevant sources - which are generally ignored.
it is result in a that way that you get count for a short time then Googel will stop counting those links.
