I believe Windows XP is faster and beter than Windows 7 in terms of multitasking. It's unfortunate that Microsof will withdraw it's support in 2012 and will launch Windows 8 soon.

Sometimes an operating system of a computer must depend upon the hardware capability of a PC especially the processor, hard disk, and memory card. Windows XP run faster than Windows 7 in old model PC in reverse 7 is run faster than XP in upgraded hardware PC or new model. Windows 7 posses many good quality of feature including desktop icon and themes than XP.But no matter what there differences is, I both use the 2 OS.

I am not sure what issues you are talking about but windows7 works better than any other OS for me. The performance and stability of Win7 are unmatched by any other windows ever made.

Nice question, actually it depends on our hardware required is fully based on operating system speed. i like both operating systems are good.

Depends on hardware but XP is faster because it requires less RAM but then again if you have 4GB or more RAM then Win7 is faster..

If you have enough system resources to satisfy Win7 recommended (not minimum) reqs then Win7 will fly. You are asking the wrong question. It isnt about speed. If you want speed go install Win95 and it will be fast as hell but the functionality will be close to 0. XP is not yet so old that its unusable but its getting very very close. Personally i would never go back from Win7 to XP and i do mean never. Back when Vista was released i went back from Vista to XP and it was acceptable but today win xp is just not an acceptable OS for day to day pc use.
