  • acronym vs name

What is better, an abbreviated name like THWSFE.com or thehotwarhammersiteforeveryone.com ? In my opinion I like the first one better. What do you guys think?

  • #2
Yeah abbrevations are good if the name is too big to write or to say.. if the name is short you need not abrrevate it... But todays trend is abbrevations..
i would rather prefer with the name if its short...

Abbreviation is good if easily remembered. In here both domain names are very complex. I would suggest you to use abbreviation in organised manner sothat it could be easily remembered. Like THoWSiFE.com. How is that?

Well I don't know if your post was being sarcastic, but who would want a 35 letter long word domain? Lol, as long as the abbreviated domains are memorable, I guess those are better.

if the name is short you can use it... but if it compose a 10-20+ letters you can use Abbreviation instead! its easy to remember and easy to type!

I can't use the original post as an example, but, if I alter it slightly..

If you operated a company/org called "The Hot Warhammer"

                thehotwarhammer.com
thw.com (almost certainly taken and v. expensive)
                thw-online.com

thw-online would be my personal preference, I'm not sure why though.

abbreviated name is better as it's shorter but it's not a keyword domain and not recognize by search engine and result in less traffic. better ranking in search engine too

In reality the value of a name is based on its length and short is always preferred. Generally short names give clarity and useful in commercial use.

Maybe abbreviation would be better, but don't forget that domain name of the website is the most important SEO onpage element. You must use in URL keywords, that people might search in search engines and that are more competitive
For example: website http://medicationssuppliers.com/. Not much people are looking for medical suppliers, but they will find this website at first place. The same is with deep links:
                        use for example http://medicationssuppliers.com/phar...ical_products/
and not medicationssuppliers.com/category1/ or something in like this.

In your case thehotwarhammersiteforeveryone.com is first of all to long and i need to look at this vary long to understand the meaning. About words:
The - search engines don't look at this at all
Hot - maybe people is using it, but not with warhammer
                        Warhammer Site - is ok
For every one - don't think that some one is looking for this

I would suggest you to use something like warhammerstrategy.com or warhammerstrategysite.com (which again i find too long), warhammergamesite.com.
Just think what people will look for in search engines, in this way you will figure out the name
                        http://food-supply.net/
                        http://energysupply.biz/

Yeah abbrevations are saving if the enumerate is too big to correspond or to say.. if the slang is tract you necessity not abrrevate it... But todays way is abbreviations..i would kinda advance with the kinfolk if its swindle...
