i have opted for a free .co.cc domain

how can i remove Powered by co.cc from top that comes after the name of site.

  • #2
Its actually impossible to remove "powered by .co.cc" from your site, but co.cc only keep "powered by .co.cc" if you use "redirection". If you edit the DNS or Zone recording, they dont keep "powered by .co.cc"

Thats one of the disadvantages you get with the free products like domains. .co.cc is a free domain which asks something for itself when you are trying to setup a website with them.

So you can't remove that text from the top bar. As others suggested, i would agree that the best option is to set up a redirection and redirect the domain to a website that you have hosted elsewhere, and seriously, you won't be able to brand your domain name with a .co.cc extension! Its already got the name of "free" all over the web.

I think you could brand yourself with a co.cc domain name.. While your a beginner, but after that your next step is --> a .info then you move to a dot com.

But yes, I believe you can... The way people are starting to go now is cz.cc because it has more names that are still availible as it seems co.cc has been bought out!

I wouldn't go with co.cc because they are idiots (my opinion). I have registered a test domain with them and somebody sent them a (false) spam alert and they have simply deleted my domain. You rather go with .info, it costs 1$ but you know that it's yours for a year!

Agreed. And one thing to note about .co.cc free subdomain is that it is not really free. You will have to pay for renewing your free domain after a year. That is one thing I was able to find out after trying them years ago. The worst thing is, the renewal fee is adjusted based on how much you have bring in popularity for the free domain. So in my case, I was ask to renew my supposedly free domain for $500 after enjoy a year free. And that fact is very much hilarious. I must have acquired a TLD domain in the first place and only subject to renewing it for only less than $10. And other thing is, .co.cc is not even worth a domain since it is nowhere compared to .com, .net, .info, .org and other TLDs.

And so, DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THEM! Not unless you want to simulate the scenario I once had.

BUY YOU OWN Top Level Domain as it is worth it.

Well, I won't go for such type of free domain names.

If you want to create a serious business then you should go for a paid domain name on which you have full control and they are too secure if you register from any reputed registrar like Godaddy etc.

In my opinion you should buy new domain instead of using free one.
