What actually does "Backorder" mean?

Recently, I tried to book a domain name with GoDaddy. The preferred domain name was already booked by someone else. However, there is no data uploaded yet.

I did see one more thing there about Backorder! But I am confused about what backorder really is.

Can someone light up with some genuine answer, here?

If some of domain name is expire; there still 3 month spare to be extended ; but in that time that domain can buy by other people by back order.

Backorder means keeping yourself in line when the domain name is available for registration then you would be given that domain name so that other won't register, if there is more than one backorder then you have to go through bidding.

Backorder Means Catching Domain names many domains expire but there are many hands ready to catch that expiring the domain name so when you backorder a domain name a your company keeps an eye on that particular domain name and when it expires it registers it immediately.

Backordering means letting your consumers shop for products, record their orders, even when you’re lacking the product in supplies.
