After the EMD update, do exact match domains help or hurt SEO?

The recent EMD (exact match domain) update sowed fear and dread in the hearts of many. What Google did is penalize sites that have an exact match domain AND are thin - meaning, do not have a lot of good content, no social media connections, and no inbound links / social mentions about their URL's.So, as we will learn in the Website structure, class having the KEYWORD in the domain STILL HELPS and is HELPFUL but it is only one factor among many. Not enough by itself, and even more so after the EMD update, you still have to beef up the site with good SEO-friendly kewyord content, and inbound links.On a related note, people often ask about registering multiple domains with different keywords and making them 'empty' but pointing to the mother ship domain. This is not a good strategy and doesn't really do much, but somehow people still believe in it. Again, after the EMD update, an empty domain isn't worth much (if it ever was).

EMD is still effective, what you need to do is to create quality sites, it would help, I see many EMD sites are still ranking.

No, it doesn't help in your seo but it doesn't hurt either overall you have lost the advantage you get with your domain name that's it.

After EMD update these are not effective as much they were befor the update.
