Ads on Free Hosting Websites?

Do you like ads on free hosting website or not? Why or why not?
I don't like them because sometimes, they don't really fit into the websites content.
They can be good too, because they offer more information for the visitor.

I don't see a problem with it as long as it's in the appropriate category. It can be beneficial for everyone as long as it isn't junk.

I personally dont like ads appearing in my websites, but to keep up the freehosting alive the host has to find means to support itself, so i guess ads may be necessary from thier point of view. Still if anyone can give a ad free hosting it would be a great crowd puller

I don't like it but it helps out the free host by giving some extra income.

Even if i don't like it and there was an option to take it off i'd leave it.

i didnt like the entire funda till i knew the business logic behind it. A serious business runs on per click of ads and mouseover...so genuinely for those who offer the advertisements and live on the business generated for them, its a best thing tht could have happened

This is exactly why I do not use free web hosts, I cannot afford to have my profits go elsewhere. Any site with a decent amount of traffic can make far more than the amount paid in web hosting.

noone would give his services for free to get no return

and i think ads are the best medium for a free host to earn and even clients shouldnt have any prob in it as they are getting the hosting without paying anything for it

They're are plenty of free hosts out there that are absolutely free.

Web hosting. If you want something that is ad free, and don't need too much freedom to design your own page, you could always use blogger or wordpress or one of those simple web hosts that don't have ads. Then again, people probably wouldn't choose a free website over a paid one.

Well, free hosts must make money somehow! It is nice to be able to operate without ads, which we have done occasionally. But most of time, we must have ads on user pages in order to make enough money to cover various costs of running our free hosting services.

From a user perspective, I always liked those ads Geocities had which you could close out. That was cool. (It was also many years ago!)

Agreed !

They would be good for some extra links for the visitors but if its not fit to the theme you are using or content you are having then it would be a pain in the ass.

All i want to say is just, why not get a paid one ? you can get a paid hosting in just $1 or so per month.
