I am planning to start a web hosting site and I have no idea how. Can someone give me some useful tips for this?

Find a script out there, Ethier buy a deditcated server or just buy a sever yourself. But you need a script to get you started. Webhosting can really yeild some high profits.

I'm curious about that too googoo. How much money do you need to run your own web hosting company? I think it's not so expensive since many people has a web hosting company out there. Anyone can give us a reference?

From my experience, I'd recommend getting something like webmin. It's Free. Though, it doesn't have the automatic thing if you are planning to provide free hosting.

Interesting, Would any free webhosting admins be willing to say how much it costs (to start and per month) to provide free hosting with cpanel, fantasctico, phpmyadmin, php4 and 5 and plenty of webspace and bandwidth?

I remember there was a site called surpasshosting.com which offered several really awesome reseller packages, that may be worth checking out I think!

I can write simple some short steps to open up a hosting site:

*Register a domain for your hosting company.
*Buy Reseller Account/VPS/Dedicated Server for atleast 6 months or 1 year.
*Configure your server/reseller account with Packages, Settings etc.
*Get a hosting templates and customize it or design your own hosting site with all the required pages as other hosting company have in their sites. Put all the offers, plans & promotions etc. in your site.
*Buy or get a open source hosting management script as like iPanel or anyother.
*Setup the hosting script with your hosting site and integrate as your order page.
*For reliability, buy or get opensource helpdesk/live support script and install it with your site.

That's all.. you'll be able to start selling hosting packages immediately. Any user will be able to visit your site & signup for their desired hosting plan. You can also offer trial or free packages which depends on your hosting management script.
