You can just search the free domain in any searching engine. You can many free web hosting sites. You view those sites and choose it.

It's out of question to get .com domains for free All you get is .cc, .co.nr, .uni etc. Some affiliate program will register you a domain for doing their offers You can look for them.

I don't think anyone will just give you one but people may be willing to trade for it. Post an offer and I'm sure someone will trade for a domain. I have extra domains and have traded for some in the past.
