  • Make your computer run faster

Hi, every one. I just want to share a trick to make your pc could run faster. If you have a pc with Microsoft Windows (especially XP) and you have at least one partition of your hardisk. You can make another (2nd) hardisk partition as a virtual memory partition. You can make that partition with third party application such as Powerquest Partition Magic and many more.

The logic behind this scenario is if your windows starts, it uses virtual memory from another partition as mentioned above so windows doesn't work in the same partition. Sometimes we found the warning message such "Windows virtual memory is to low...." so make your windows' virtual memory enough in amount of 3.5 times of your physical memory. I.e. if you have a 512 MB of your physical memory, you will make your windows virtual memory in size of 1,792 MB.

That's all from me guys. Just enjoy it.

Great share but can you tell me ....
can we reinstate the normal characteristics to the used portion after using it as virtual memory? Should we keep the partition empty before making it virtual?

I think you don't have to, you just go the the System Properties/Advanced/Settings (Performance Tab)/again to advanced and then set virtual memory for your system, you can set it on any drives..

just make sure your partition in which the paging file is located has much space bigger than the total ammount of your physical RAM and let windows does the paging automatically
