  • Getting your forum started

Those of you that have started forums from scratch, will know that the first challenge is to get them first few active members. So how do you go about acheiving them?

Do you go with paid posters, or get your friends to help you out by creating a few usernames and making a post or two? Also, do you go straight into paid advertising, or is your first step to submit your forum to search engines and directories?

    Re: Getting your forum started

I like to use a combination of paid posting, post exchanges, and advertising with Google Adwords. Sometimes I have more time than I have money and so I use the first two options - other times I can afford to spend some on advertising.

First, hire some paid to post people to get the forum somewhat active, new members don't like to join inactive forums.. after you get a steady flow of new members, there's no need for paid posters

First you can start off with paid posters..

If the forum is really good and appealing then the paid posters will continue to post even if their posting tenure is over...

          Re: Getting your forum started

Most times I have had better results with post exchanges than paid posting. Paid posters seem to try to get away with as little as possible and if you don't watch them will even copy and paste. When doing an exchange you get quality because they want quality in return.
