im a huge fan of yahoo. i love the fact that they have the cutest smileys. they always say people stick to what they know and i have been using yahoo the longest. I do have all of the other messengers, but yahoo is really my favorite.

I think more people will start use Gtalk if it gets all features which yahoo and MSN have , such as emotions and Cam. It has a advantage since you can chat from yr email too .

                  Definitely Skype. 3 basic reasons
                  1. Most people use skype
                  2. Flexible
                  3. More options

I prefer AIM. For a long time it was ICQ, but thats because it was the first messenger I ever used. I've never really liked Yahoo's Messenger or MSN's.

I wonder how Messengers like AIM or ICQ dying. I dont know how they fight for a market share with giants like Yahoo, MSN and Gtalk

At this point, ICQ, in particular has some hardcore followers by simlpy being around as long as they have. Perhaps they don't want ot be that big, and view the small advertisements in each message as enough of an income stream to quietly make a fortune while other huge brand names like Yahoo and MSN fight and spend millions of dollars to be a household name.

ICQ is nostalgic to people at this point too. The age of the messenger goes a long way in people's mind to memories, credibility, and the fact they have survived even though aspects of the internet are unrecognizable from when they first started.

I much prefer Windows Live Messenger (I helped Beta-test it, heehee). I like it because I can't seem to get used to the others.

Yahoo messenger has far too many options/preferences so it gets confusing. I also get offline messages from blocked/ignored contacts so I had to stop using it.
