This is probably a very basic tactic for many of you, but I just realized something pretty important about trying to increase the number of incoming links to my site.
On each page, I include a list of recent articles. I wasn't including every category or every article however. I had 28 links that were common to each page, and made up the vast majority of cross-linking within my site. It occurred to me that with each of the 56 or so odd pages on my site were contributing 28 links each, or about 1,568 links. By adding another category of links, I was able to add an additional 9 links to each page. 10 minutes of work and now I have 2,072 cross-links, or a 32% increase. Oh yeah, each of these links has the keyword for the page in the anchor text.
Now, this has got to help - the question is, by how much? And would I see an even bigger increase the effect by re-posting these links on another one of my domains?
