What does Google target when consider link penalties?

I've read that you should avoid using spun content, and make sure you have high quality content that is unique. Also avoid keyword stuffing. Anyone have any additional tips?

As you know that now you that google is not allowing spun or duplicate low quality content. If you want to publish a content on web than you will have to write a quality, unique & informative content. You need to emphasize on that information that google will love it and also users can easily understand your content. While you will publish that content on web you need to check you content in some duplicate content checker tools that your content is duplicate or not.

Google changed its algorithm frequently based on spammy and duplicate data. So google penalize those site who are buying links. If you are buying the links from other site and if your content is duplicate then google will penalize you and can banned you permanently,so take care of it.

In link penalty, what Google sees is the links are natural or not, if the links are built using any software then you would get the penalty..

Google goes after low quality links when they target the link penalties. So try to get backlinks from high quality websites only.
