301 Redirect is a form of URL which allows the users and visitors of website moved from the current URL to the different address. It is basically defined as 301 redirection.

According to me, 301 redirect indicate redirecting your web-site to the other address from your original domain url name.

301 redirect is a catch phrase often used in SEO where nobody really explains how to do it. Many people feel too dumb to ask "how do I do a 301 redirect?" because they feel they should just know what one is.

Redirection is the process of forwarding one URL to a different URL. There are three main kinds of redirects: 301, 302, and meta refresh.

Let's say you have rewrite your one of website URL. Now there are lots of backlinks on the net for that URL. When people click on those backlinks to visit your website, they will get 404 error as that page is not exists. But actually the page is exists on your website with other name. So you need to redirect that old url to new rewritten url, so that the users can land on right page and you can regain your visitor base.

So I think now you can understand that redirection is a process of redirecting your users from old location/page to the new location/page.

Redirection is the process of moving the information on a page from one place to another place. There are basically 2 redirection techniques which you can use to redirect your URL 301 and 302 where 301 is called permanent redirection and 302 called temporary redirection.
