What is bounce rate?

Tell me the exact meaning of bounce rate.

Bounce Rate is the percentage of visitors that hit your website on a given page and don’t visit any other pages on your site.High bounce rate in itself doesn't mean it is a bad site. I would think google looks to see if you continue your search, going back to the google search results and looking at more sites.I really doubt that bounce rate make a different on SERP.

According to me Bounce rate is the number of visitors that source a website through a search engine but leave without navigating to any other webpage and “bounce” back to the search engine to find another resource. A high bounce rate will affect search engine position because it implies to the search engines that the website is not relevant to the searched terms that people are locating the website through and will consequently penalize the website which will ultimately be reflected in its search engine position.

Well Bounce rate means your visitor visited your site but something not impressed him/her so he/she decide to go away from the site.So if bounce rate is more than 40% it is not good sign for usability.
