In most cases, only one submission to the Open Directory is necessary. Once submitted, the site will eventually either be added to the directory, or it will be refused. Because DMOZ is an entirely volunteer-driven directory, because sites are added for free, and because thousands of webmasters from all over the world attempt to game the system every day, you can expect to wait anywhere from a few days to over a year for your site to be added, if it is accepted.

Yes, they don't have a restriction on the number of different urls.

2 things apply to DMOZ. They were established in 1999 I believe and some categories still have a very few listings. Obviously, they chose to grow very slowly. Regarding re-submission, since volunteers approve all submissions and even though they have some guidlines to follow, there is still a big grey area when it comes to deciding on whether to include a submission. So, I'd say resubmit in a relatively short time. I've seen very simple sites accepted the first time, and others, better ones rejected. Perhaps the former matched their content needs better.

Submitting a url once is okay, once a site is submitted, it will either be approved to the directory, or it will be declined.

As others here have said, you should only have to post your URL once, resubmitting isn't necessary.

The point here how do we know if the sites being submitted was rejected? for waiting so long and it's rejected, really frustrating.

Sorry there is no way that you can know what has happened to your site suggestion, except that if it was not rejected it waits for a review for a possible listing. That can take from a few days to a few years. If the site is not used then it would have to be a totally different site to get accepted so their is no point in resubmitting. If it waits a review and you keep submitting or has been rejected and you keep re-submitting it is likely to get banned as spam.

So submit once and forget it, there is nothing more you can do to promote your site at DMOZ. But do remember it is only a suggestion and do remember that all editors are volunteers working in their spare time and they try to build categories for those who are surfing and want to use a site which collates links. We are not a listing service, we do not insist that editors review the suggestions, they can use any means they wish to find sites and build categories.

I am sure you don't want to hear that, but it is how it is.
