How many links?

Any one knows how many links we need to get pr ranks? im kinda confused with this one? someone says you need thousand on no pr site ti get a pr1 is that true?

It is not just the number of links, it is the quality of links.
If they come from a high pr site it would benefit you more.

the age of the site also matters that is why you can see some sites with pr4 but with little or no backliks

its not necessary to have too many backlinks, even a few but quality backlinks would work. the age of the site also sometimes play a role in getting a PR. my site www.crazystufz.com is just 6 months old and i got a PR3

wow thats great a pr3 I have 2 pr4 sites that have less than 10 backlinks the only thing I have used them for is to redirect them to sites with my affiliate links that goes to show that pagerank sometimes can suck

You just dont know with PR.
But having a high PR does not always mean that you will get top ranking on a specific keyword.

Actually, it is related to whether the links are of high quality and whether the links originated with high PR or not. It doesn't count if you have bunch of unrelated links and of course this will not help on the PR.

PR of your website depends upon the the PR of the page where your link is visible. One of my website is PR1 and only have 3 backlinks.

The relevane of the site you are linking to also matters, it's better to have one link to a relevant site that 10 to irrelevant.

The key to building PR is the type of links you get and the quality of those links. For example a PR5 link that is from a niche related to your topic will be worth more than one that is from a general PR5 with a non-related niche. The more juice the site has in terms of PR, the more it will help boost your PR.

Just remember, some paid links are be devalued by Google for PR. Buy those only for advertising and not to increase your PR.

I saw one blog stating about 101 ways to achieve Good PR. I forgot most of them and forgot the article URL. But Mostly I remember, Age of Domain, Relevant, Backlinks, URL structure, Quality Content etc.

It depends on the quality of links more than the number of them. By putting your site in social bookmaking sites and signature forums, you'll gain pr 3 in no time.

It depends on the links that link back to you. If they have high PR then it may even be 10 links, but if they are low PR or no PR at all, then maybe 100+ of them.
