I don't think this will effect SEO, but it is a good range for most websites. It isn't to short or too long.

I think that requires in the article sites they have a minimum and a maximum requirements for every submission of article.

I don't agree that number of words will make any difference when it comes to seo. Basically the argument is that, you can have 1000 words article but if the keyword distribution, keyword density or even keyword usage is not correct, it all goes back the same thing. I would rather have a short article fulfilling the right criteria.

its not about quantity its all about quality. you should used only 150-200 words of Article but is would be quality article.......
