Need suggestion

I have a website related to entertainment category (an arcade site). It was quite popular and was receiving many hits every month but all of sudden the traffic started to decrease a lot. What marketing strategy should I adopt to take the website to upper side once again? Thanks..

Well, I guess the first thing would be to ask - how were you getting traffic to start?

[gingimaster]

did you change anything in the site?
are you still appearing in the same spots on search results?

[Positive]

I didn't change anything on the site. The traffic was mostly from a banner ad placed on a large forum targetting students of my country. The banner is still there..

[gingimaster]

i don't know where you're from but it might be because most students are on holidays at the moment.
did you check if the periods coincide?
that sounds the most plausible option.
i would suggest checking with the forum's admins or advertising person to check that matter.

Depends on where the traffic was coming from, if it was all search engine based see if you got deindexed for something.

Guru,
You don't really like reading do you?
He said most traffic came from a banner on a students forum....

I would do some article marketing, and would advertise my site on some related websites. If you didn't want to pay anything, joining a forum with a good solid community and having a link in your signature helps.

Also, try exchanging links with other webmasters. That's a great way to get traffic!

Thanks for your comments guys. They have been really helpful. I have added some new games in my arcade site and after that traffic increased a bit. Seems like people were too bored with old games. I also plan to start a contest to attract new visitors. Thanks once again..

here you go

hey buddy,

you have been getting good traffic before and to sustain the same you have put some interesting activities like games quiz contest etc. rest you need to figure out the age group of viewers.
