Text ads Vs Banner Ads

[nick08]

Well, in my experience,I see that text ads will convert better almost 75-80% of the time with the same impressions. People are banner blind, you may have read that in the past, but it is 100% true. Take Google Adsense for instance. Do you think Google was insane? They knew exactly what they were doing with contextual advertising. Allowing users to create ads that blend into their content was genius. Some people were clicking those ads without even thinking about that fact that it was an ad. On the other hand, if you have bouncing, flashing or talking banners on your site, the user is automatically turned off by them and will not click through. So guys what's your thoughts on this matter?

I agree with you, i myself have practical experience of getting more clicks on text ads. I myself would click more on text ads. as they are contextual. Banner ads are more appealing, but no much for clicks.

I think it is entirely depends on which site you are posting ads and how much attractive is the ad. You can find number of websites having banner ads on them, still people are trying to overload these with more ads just for getting click. On the contrary, there are some websites that allow only text ads and no banners, those too are earning good revenue. So if a banner is pretty interesting and appealing sure you will be getting clicks on that, and the same with the text ads as well. Its just depend on the your idea and skill of advertising.
