Is directory submission is useful for increasing site page rank

I have submitted my site in almost 1000 directory but my site PR is not increased. So I want to know about actual role of directory submission in seo. Please tell me is directory submission is helpful for increase site page rank.

Why not try article submission or do blogs. directory submission could somehow increase rankings.

You have to do other method also.Directory submission helps to improve but not as much as needed to increase PR.You can try forum posting.Forum posting is the best way to increase PR.

I think u had submit ur website in low page rank directory so if u want high page rank ur website than submit into high page rank directory.

I think these days, unless the directory is very high PR, you will gain very little value from submitting to them, better to put your time into something else, as suggested, create some quality content and link to it on blogs, social media sites, etc

only do link building.it will increase your site pr.do it for 3-4 month and take backlink from high pr site.

Google does not look at how many backlinks you have. It's only count quality backlinks(Do Follow). I would suggest you submit your site into 3 to 8 Page Rank sites. I hope your site will get PR.

I have submitted my auction site information many times in DMoz but it's not approve my site link. I want to know that when DMoz approve any link although I submitted my site information in very relevant category.

just submit to high PR directories, you also go some other off page optimization methods to get better ranking in major search engines...............

Dear Fellow Member,

Submission does not mean confirm backlink. You will have to make sure that mazimum of your submission gets approved and the directories list your website.
Also, only directory submissions would not help much in increasing the pagerank. You will have to use other link building techniques such as article submission, press releases, blogs, social media to enhance to pagerank.

One more thing to remember, Google updates its page rank after 6 months or more than that. So it would not be like you have submitted the site in 1000 directories last month and can expect an increase in pagerank the next month. You will have to wait till the next pagerank update happens.
