I am new to the SEO industry and have been working here since the last 6 months optimizing my website with the help of basic techniques. I was ranked in the first page of Google for my main keywords, but things began to change when I started using Google analytics. There is a difference in the visits shown by the stat counter and Google. I am unsure as to what traffic sources Google is counting and how the stat counter works. When there is an average traffic of 50 shown daily, why is there an average of 35 shown on the monthly basis?

You can check the google analytics code properly installed on your site or not with the help of this tool. http://sitescanga.com/
Check it and see if it is proper. If it is okay, then you must check the settings for star counter.

I thought Google Analytics was merely a tool to understand the traffic to site; but the rank of a site depends on the number and the quality of the links you have. Unless you are going to implement another keyword, what is the correlation between the traffic and the rank? I use Google analytics as the measure for the traffic source and the competitiveness of keyword. Other then that, I build links for the better rank, one link at a time.

Google always make changes in its algorithm. I think just you have this problem otherwise no issue.
