Directories always takes more time to approve than articles, so articles are much better than directories.

I think it would about the article submission. It would help you to get more visitor to the website. It needs a good content with unique information. Try to have keyword density about 2% to 8%.

Both are excellent techniques but according to my perception, article submission is much better compare than Directory submission.
