The term gift tax refers to a federal tax paid by an individual who transfers something of value to another individual. Gifts can be anything of significant value, such as large sums of money or real estate. The tax can be imposed on the donor than the recipient in some cases even if the person donating never intended it to be a gift. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) sets limits on how much you're allowed to give to another individual before you are taxed, so anything above these limits is subject to the tax.

Gift tax is a act introduced by the Parliament of India in 1958. It was introduced to impose tax on giving and receiving gifts under certain circumstances which is specified under the act. These gifts can be in any form including cash, jewellery, property, shares, vehicle, etc.Comment
